Does the name Men-ichi remind you of Ichiban Sushi? That’s right! Both chains are actually under the same company, RE&S.
There are currently so many different Japanese ramen chains in Singapore, but I have to say that Men-ichi is worth dedicating your calories to. The menu at Men-ichi is simple and affordable. In fact, there are some value-for-money promotions that you can watch out for on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/menichi.sg/

We ordered the shrimp ramen and the tonkotsu ramen. The broth for both ramens were rich with flavour, just like how I usually like my ramen broth (though it was a little too rich and salty). It could have also been more fragrant. On the other hand, the cha-shu was tender and it did not have much of the pungent smell that sometimes comes with pork. My only complaint was the fat to meat ratio, which was far too high. The egg (gooey yolk!) and bamboo shoots were on point. For the shrimp ramen, the dried shrimp on top of the shrimp ramen added a nice crunch and fragrance. I honestly never expected corn to go well with it, but the sweetness and juiciness of the corn helped to balance out the richness of the other components.

I wouldn’t say that the ramen at Men-ichi is world class, but it’s great for its price point and that’s why I recommend Men-ichi.
Unfortunately, the branch where we ate at (Jurong Point) is no longer open.
There are, however, still two locations where you can go to try this ramen chain out!
NEX #B1-79, 23 Serangoon Central, Singapore 556083 and Tampines 1 #B1-07, 10 Tampines Central 1, Singapore 529536
